The GATE exam is conducted in various subjects of engineering and sciences. As of 2021 GATE will be conducted in 27 papers or subjects viz., Aerospace, Agricultural, Architecture, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Civil, Chemical, Computer Science, Chemistry, Electronics & Communication, Electrical, Environmental Science and Engineering, Ecology & Evolution, Geology & Geophysics, Instrumentation, Mathematics, Mechanical, Mining, Metallurgical, Petroleum, Physics, Production & Industrial, Statistics, Textile & Fibre, Engineering Sciences, Life Sciences and Humanities and Social Sciences. Statistics and Biomedical Engineering are added in the year 2019 and 2020 respectively.  Environmental Science and Humanities & Social Sciences are added in the year 2021.
